Bite
The Curb
What a fun way to spend a Sunday afternoon. Thanks Woogy and Binkles
for letting The Riot come on board as sponsor to a really great
event. Those of you who were there will agree I'm sure but for those
who weren't you missed out.

When we arrived at Kempton Civic in the morning it looked like
we were gonna get kicked out before the comp even began but luckily
the kind security guards (who just wanted to see action) let us
have the parking lot till 3pm. With that said the festivities got
swiftly under way. First off was the curb line comp which took place
on this curb...

We didn't get many riding shots of the curb stuff as it was technical
riding BUT there will be a web edit of it coming soon which we'll
post up right here in the news.

Here's a spy snap of the line-up. Well Brendon Jacobs saw the camera
sneaking in and decided to share some Jozi sign language with us.
Once you got to have your run you had to face this...

You can read "Hell Yeah" here but that's the back of
the board. Not sure who the unlucky rider was was but what that
board is really saying in front is "BOO".

A quick healing Jordan even came out for the day. He's still a
little swollen and scaring little kids with his dashing looks but
in two weeks or so he should back on his bike.

After the curb comp it was time for the high jump. The bar got
up to 40 inches...

Here you can see Kyle Kiewet clearing 40 inches with a monster
pop.
The comp was in fact won by Brendon Jacobs who cleared 41 inches
within his three chances!

Here' a pic of Stephen Savage doing a Mary Poppins over 40 inches...
After the High Jump it was time for the Long Jump. The set-up for
this was well scary with a launch being placed on top of ledge.
Cranking full speed and having to hop up a ledge and then hit the
launch was a daunting experience but non-the-less guys went all
out. Here's Tyrone ("Old Guy" of the day) setting the
furthest jump.

He was closely contested by Paul Soderland who decided he would
get as sideways as the lamp post..

Brad Illingworth decided it was time to see he if still had his
racing legs...

Then there's always those who feel the need to do tricks. Justin
Lopes turning it down. Storm "Granny Witch" attempted
to whip this sucker but our camera guy was to busy perving over
the Miss Ekhurleni contestants and missed it.

At the end of the day it was thanks to these guys...

...for such a good day. Brendon Jacobs was awarded shredder of
the day, Stephen Savage came in second and Old Guy (Tyrone Bradley)
got third. Paul Soderland was meant to get the 3rd spot, but he
had already left... the judges then decided to give 3rd to Jan The
Legend (aka Green wheels), but guess what?! Green wheels had also
already left. A big shout out must go to Rory Welgemoed, he rode
really well! Everyone ended up winning though when more prizes were
thrown out than given out.

Witbank
Session
On Saturday a few of us made a mission down to Witbank to see what
the scene was like out there. Being just over an hour away it seems
weird we hadn't gone there before but hey, better late than never.
The weather in Joburg was dark and gloomy and we weren't sure what
we would be waiting for us Witbank. The last thing we wanted was
to drive all the way and into rain.
When we rolled into town Brad gave one of the locals a call to
arrange a meet up spot and man were we surprised to see how many
kids there were that rode. After introducing ourselves it was time
get riding. We had heard that there were some dirt jumps at this
guy Antera's house but he wasn't there. We gave Antera a call he
said it was cool for us to ride there anyways. So we headed to his
farm/plot. The jumps were not in good shape at all. There was a
bit of rain damage so we needed to fix em up a little.

We didn't have any spades though but Jon mangaged to find a trowel
lying around. He set to work quickly on the small line while Brad,
finding a plough, set to work on the huck jump.

As we started working on the jumps we noticed the weather starting
to turn. We didn't hacve much time so once the jumps were rideable
we started hitting them.

There was a wallride there too and it was the wallride that saw
most of the action..

One of the locals with a carve on the wall.

Brendon with a table out.

Mpho was trying to abubaca the top of wall. He came damn close
and if the bank leading up to it had a little more kick he woulda
nailed it perfectly. Super high fakie wall tap. Look at the storm
coming in...

With little time left as the storm approached Savage chucked in
some foot jam's on the wall.

We believe this local's name is Wayne and appologise if we are
wrong. When the rain came bucketing down we had to make a quick
getaway and never got to really hang out and get to know anyone.
But here he is jumping the first double in the line. Thanks to all
you guys for showing us around. Sorry we never got hang out more
but we'll be back.

Justin
Lopes (Take 2)
Is Justin hungry for fame or does someone just love taking photos
of him? We don't know and we don't care. Look at how good his riding
is coming along, wonder if is has anything to do with the T-1 Garret
Byrnes T-Shirt though. Just kidding, JL rips and so do a lot of
you up and commers... so why aren't you sending in pics?

Along with the riding shots from the weekend, Justin also sent
us some pics of his bike with the white highlights theme and his
new Federal sprocket.

Bite
The Curb
The other day Woogy and Binky came to us with an idea for a street
comp, well a curb comp to be precise. Who doesn't like sessioning
a curb? No-one and that's why we instantly said we'd sponsor it.
So here is the flyer. Come and join us. This is gonna be fun and
prize giving is at The Don where there will be cheap Draughts for
over 18's. Nice.

Jordan
Discharged
Today Jordan sent us an sms to say that the surgery went 100% and
that he has been discharged from the hospital. He still has a few
weeks to go before he'll be rolling again but we're all glad that
there were no complications with the surgery and that it's all just
a matter of healing now.

We have just received the newest products from Federal and man do
they look good. Check them out on the products
page
Also in Federal news, they have their Colgne road trip video up
on their YouTube site. Makes for some good viewing. 9mins long,
so if you got the time and the internet speed go check

Jordan
Update
Last night a bunch of us went to go see Jordan and none of us expected
to find him in such high spirits. To be honest it doesn't seem as
though the injury has phased him that much and the doctors are blown
away at how quick his swelling has gone down. He goes into surgery
today at 1pm where surgeons will place in excess of 30 titanium
plates in face. We were a bit misinformed on his injuries and thankfully
it turns out he never factured his neck but rather pulled ligaments
in it. Doctors told him he should be all healed up in about 3 weeks.
Jordan thanks everyone for their wishes.

Man
Down

On friday night Jordan Anthony had a freak accident which, as far
as we now for now, has left him with a crushed face and fractured
neck. From what we have heard he was walking along a ledge in the
dark but didn't realilse it ended where it did. He took one step
too far and fell face first onto the corner of another one. He is
in really bad shape and is currently in ICU waiting for the swelling
to go down before doctors can tend to his injuries. Jordan is a
trooper and we know he'll heal up as quick as possible. We will
keep you updated on his progress.
Get well soon Jordan!

Mark
Williams Update
Every once in a while our friend King Rat aka Mark Williams sends
us some dope pics of him shredding up his new turf in Canada. He
sent us this pic with a little story...
"Hey buddy this is a pic from a while ago its me diong a wall
ride in a fountain. Dislocated my ankle on friday at the skatepark.
It was gross. paramedics came and gave me some entenox (happy gas
type stuff it was awesome for the pain. Went to the ER and they
popped it back in while i was awake. Screamed so loud that everyone
in the E.R. was looking at me. I was to drugged up to care. Then
the nice nurses took care of me :)"
Get well soon markie

Justin
Lopes
We got this pic in the mail this morning of Justin cranking a 180
lookback at Brightwater. This boy is getting better by the day.
If you have any pics you wanna share, then just send them to us
and if they good enough quality we'll post them up

Saturday's
Street Session
It's been too long since our last decent street session. So on Saturday
after The Riot closed it's doors Buddy, Tyrone, Brad, Greg, Devin
and Chris Robertson headed out to have some fun on an old spot that
once saw some heavy action form the now elusive Jimmy Reynolds.
The spot is basically a pedestrian walkway which has a rad brick
transition and a tricky little sub box. Here are some snaps of what
went down.

Greg has now taken these bad boys to street.

You don't see too many riders with pegs these days. Tyrone having
some fun with a toothpick.

When not wearing t-shirts proclaiming the greatness of beer, Chris
Robertson can be found tweaking tables with mad pop like this.

Fly Bikes' Buddy Chellan is up from Cape Town for a bit and gracing
Joburg with a lesson in style. Footjam on the sub. If you don't
know Buddy, you don't know nuffin.

This spot is just down the road from Devin's house. We're not sure
if he sessions it a lot but he did look at home on it's tranny.
Here he creates the most colorful Fufanu ever.

Wednesday
Night Madness
Last night's session at Montecasino was mad busy. There must have
been close on 25 riders and in a park where lines cross each other
you can only imagine how chronic the sesh was. Tyrone showed up
bikeless but with his camera and the new umbrella he got for his
flashes. Here are some of the pics he took using it..

Greg loving the hip. Style to the max.

Duncan Fox pops some 360 action out of the coping on the 7ft quarter.

Here's Duncan again, tweaking an invert. He's really got them dialed
and holds them for so long - textbook.

This pic of Byron was taken after the session whilst being chased
out so the flashes were not set up right and the photo quality sucks
but just look at how stretched those legs are in this no-footed
can-can. What makes this trick even more amazing is the fact it's
done on a wedge. Mad skills. Byron charges.
