December 2007 Brightwater
Sesh
Tim, Justin and Devin have been hanging out at Brightwater Common
a lot lately and decided to send through some pics f their session
yesterday. Enjoy..
Summer
X
Here are some pics, mostly from Summer X which happened at Camps
Bay High School on the 21st. Riders in attendance were Malcolm "Moe"
Peters, Buddy, Nigel, Fran, Adri, Othy,Hendri, Ryan Wycomb, Chris
Bester and more also came to hang out and ride a bit. The jumps
were large, and the slight breeze made it difficult to bust out.
But it was fun. Jam format demo. Props to Calvin Wreck and crew
for a rad event and for hooking us up. And thanks ro Buddy for hooking
us up with a pad to stay and a sweet ride as transport ; )
Besides the dirt set-up there was also a mini ramp which by the
looks of things was owned by Malcolm
This is Ryan Franklins backyard. Ryan is a mountain biker who built
rad jumps and who lets the BMX slay them.
It's always a treat when Toobie makes an appearance. Turndown by
the OG trail slayer. Thanks Ryan for a fun sesh.
Wayne loves war! See that scar on his neck? Some redneck just ran
out of the dark and stabbed Wayne with a broken bottle for no reason
on their recent "Suck it up" tour. Check out Blunt's next
issue for the full story on that along with some.

December 2007 Fox
Pro Am
This past weekend was the summer Fox Pro Am held at Gateway and
damn was the riding off the hook. The turnout was the best yet with
the "Suck It Up Tour" bringing a huge contingent of Cape
Town riders to town. (Check Blunt 12.1, the next issue, for more
on the tour). Anyway our very own Malcolm Peters took home the big
cheque of R4000 after two flawless runs. The boy was on fire. Here
are some pics and the results.
Here is Malcolm with his well deserved big black cheque.
Matt Mcleod came 2nd. In one of his runs he pulled a flip whip
and a flair. The boy was on fire and always was a crowd favourite.
Chris Barnes ended up on the podium and earned himself R1000 for
3rd place. Chris has been busting out lately but constantly seems
to place just out of the money. Not this time though. Chris's consistent
technical runs held there own and changed his bad luck spree.
The Am comp was aimz (ie: dope, shizz, off the hook). Seeing the
level of riding was a sign that the level of SA BMX is going places.
Here are your top 3, 1st - Ian Whittaker, 2nd - Ray Malinga and
3rd - Kyle Crafford.
Before the comp Tyrone managed to get a few snaps of the boys warming
up. Since Tyrone rode in the comp he didn't get any shots of the
runs but if you head over to Empire
Cycle Supply you can see some more. Here's Brad Rowlett getting
inverted.
Buddy is smooth, Buddy goes high and Buddy has style. If you don't
know Buddy you don't know nuffin!
Matt blasting the quarter.
Mo aka Malcolm Peters or Mr Gold stretches a no hander on the 6ft
quarter. Malcolm had double whips on the 8ft quarter dialed, thought
you should know.
This next photo is a just a treat...Brad has been practicing for
a role in the life aquatic 2..... sorry Brad, couldn't resist!

December 2007 Aaron
Ross Bike Check
Whilst at the Dubai X-Games we got to get this bike check with Aaron
Ross, check it:
Aaron has always been known to go way out with his colours and
this bike is no different. Computers can't even show how bright
this bike really is. "This bike is my favourite yet" -
Aaron Ross
Summer
X
Next week Friday (21 December) Summer X is going down at Camps Bay
High School Grounds. There will be a host of SA's best BMX riders
as well as skaters, FMX and MTB. The event looks like it will be
so good so if you are in Cape Town you should go check it out.
Etnies
Grounded finally in stock
For some reason the shipping company sent the stock of Etnies DVD's
to Kuwait before they got to SA. This caused over a two month delay
but we finally have stock of Etnies Grounded and if you don't own
a copy you really should get it. The DVD also comes with a 48 page
booklet full of photos by Sandy Carson plus a bunch of other stuff.
It's selling for R210.
Bite
The Curb Video
We would have posted this up sooner but being in Dubai has created
a wee bit of a backlog of news to sort out. Thanks Devin Toselli
for putting this together...

December 2007 Dubai
X-Games 2007 pics
Well we have just got back from an exhausting time at Dubai X-Games
where South African riders and skaters put SA on the map. The Riot's
very own Greg Illingworth was the only Non-American to qualify for
the street finals. He qualified in 7th but the result of having
taken a few slams doing so left him in stiff and sore shape for
the finals. This ultimately lead him to having a very frustrating
final packed with bad luck. Matt Mcleod also rode in the contest
but the street set-up wasn't much to his style of riding. He rode
awesome though but against such stiff competition unfortunately
never qualified for the finals. Greg ended up placing 10th. That's
a big result and we are so stoked for him.
So here are some pics...
In the finals was: Greg Illingworth, Garrert Reynolds, Sean Sexton,
Van Homan, Brad Simms, Gary Young, Brian Kachinsky, Aaron Ross,
Ian Schwartz and Nigel Sylvester.
Despite being amongst such big names Greg seemed cool as a cucumber.
Here are some of his tricks:
Feeble up to whip off
Wheelchair rail hop whip
Good 'Ol Turndown off the Euro Gap.
Aaron Ross - Smith to Whip
Up rail to 180 barspin off
Garret Reynolds - Up rail to tuck no-hander
Ride up to double barspin 180.
Truckdriver down the double set
Brian Kachinsky - Nose manual down the rail
Nigel Sylvester - Barspin down the double set
Ian Schwartz - Crank arm slide.
Sean Sexton - Hang Five
Barspin to manual
Tuck no-hander 180 down the double set
Brad Simms - Manual up and over the rail
Manual up the round rail
Van Homan - Up rail whip
Derek Duster down the rail
Whip over the rail
Grind up rail to gap barspin over the wheel chair hop
Up rail no footed can
Gary Young - Over toothpick on a borrowed bike
Gap to toothpick
The podium. Garret Reynolds 1st, Aaron Ross 2nd, Van Homan 3rd.
We also have some bike checks from the event for you to see so
check back tomorrow. Word.
