Rand Show Results and The Riot Closed for a Week
Unfortunately we have lost our camera which means no pics of the Rand Show comp. But we'll be posting a web video within the next few days, so you'll get to see some of the crazy action from the pro comp! The course was pretty much all street and dudes slayed it.

Pro results:

1st: Greg Illingworth (earns a place in the Shanghai X-Games!)
2nd: Colin Loudon
3rd: Malcolm Peters

Some of the highlights include: Greg's 180 barspin down a double set of stairs, a 360 over the rail and over tooth pick grind on the rail. Colin threw a whip down the double stair set to flat, up ledge to whip, and a sweet x-footed foot jam whip on the big bank! Malcolm did a clean double whip on the quarter and an opposite whip up the wedge gap! Special mention here needs to go to Rory Welgemoed, he killed the rail with following: double tyre ride, manual, hop over to double peg, ice-pick and a feeble! Respect.

Am results:

1st: Byrone Jones
2nd: Storm Guiranovitch
3rd: Dave Shepperson

Notice: The Riot shop closed during The Gate Crah Tour

Our shop will be closed from Thursday 3 April - Wednesday 9April (open on the Thurs 10th) as we will be on a road trip to Durban for Gate Crash Tour. If you have an emergency or need to get hold us please do. You can reach Brad on 076 221 0606 or Tyrone on 083 782 4873.

Bad News - Brian Kachinsky Injured
Whilst in Texas filming for a video part, Brian put his foot down funny when coming off a rail and heard a terrible pop in his knee. He has since flown back home to get it checked out and although he only gets his results tomorrow the doctors say it doesn't look good. As a result he has had to cancel his trip to SA. "I'm so bummed that I'm missing out on a trip to a place i've been wanting to go for years." We would like to wish him all the best and a speedy recovery and although this puts a bit of a dampener on the trip you can bet your ass the Gate Crash Tour is still gonna kick ass. So check the dates and spots we'll be at and be there!

Monster Update
Ok boys, it's time for some pics from the long weekend. First off here are some pics from a school session in Joburg. LeeJay managed to get a signed letter for us to ride at this high school. Way to go LJ! Opportunities like that are few and far between but unfortunately as Murphy would have it, there wasn't much at all to session at the school. We made do with an abandoned door which made a kick ass launch over bench. Here's what went down:

Colin blew out his tyre on this 180 which ended his session early which sucks coz he had some made shit he wanted to get done.

The crew hanging out legally.

Malcolm has whips on lock-down. He even did an opposite whip over this gap.

The shortster laying it down flat.

Girl pants - check, big bars - check, bandana - check. Now before you think Devin's following trends, check out the brake cable. Keeping it real.

Now for the Greg Illingworth show...

180 Barspin

Three hundred and sixty degree rotational spin.

Lookback 180.

Then James Plumridge, Ross Brown and Rudi what's his surname made a trip down to Cape Town for the long weekend and sessioned Tomowok Trails with Wayne. Kenneth was on hand to shoot these dialed photos to wet your trail appetite.

Rudi steering it in over the hip.

Plum getting dizzy

Wayne morphing into a tree

Then clicking it in with the unturndown

And for the curtains, Ross whipping it good. Yee Haw, just less than two weeks till Gate Crash Tour

It's a Small World
Tooby Groenewald is currently in Austin, Texas visting friends and hanging out for the SXSW music festival. No doubt he saw some amazing bands but who'd have guessed he'd run into Brian Kachinsky? The world really is a small place. Here's the proof of life he sent us...

Rand Show Am Contest
We were only notified today that there will be an Am comp this weekend at the Rand Show. This year the course will be modeled after the street course from the Dubai X-Games. So basically it will be like real street with rails and stairs and what not. If you are keen to compete give Brad (076 221 0606) or Tyrone (083 782 4873) a call to organise some passes for you. There will be product prizes and stuff on offer. The comp is on Saturday and Sunday and you'd need to be there by 10am on both days. See ya there.

Riot Jam #8 - Weekend Edition
We are doing a 2 day event in Durban over the weekend of the 5th and 6th April. On Saturday the 5th there will be a dirt jam at Giba Gorge and on Sunday the 6th there is a park jam at the Revolution (formerly Hux) skatepark at the Pavillion shopping centre. The dirt jam is going to be awesome! Colin Loudon and friends have been digging at Giba for the last few months and the setup looks amazing. The park jam at the Revolution Park will be the first BMX contest to be held there, and it's guaranteed to be a belter.

Once again this is an Am's only comp and products prizes will be on offer from Odyssey, DK and The Riot!

We have arranged a transport and accommodation package for Gauteng riders. At R915.00 this offer includes:
* Transport to DBN and back in a 22 seater semi-luxury bus (Lux-Liner)

Camping space is limited to 50 people, so book ASAP. Final date for bookings is Friday 21st March. This is gonna be the best jam yet, so don't miss out. RSVP to Brad (brad@theriot.co.za) or 0762210606.

Team Update
Wayne sent us an update with some dialed pics. Needless to say we like it when we get his surprise packages. The pics are of Malcolm from their weekend trails session. The other shots are of Wayne on his "Argus" road bike complete with trailmix pedals. It took him roughly 4h 10mins to complete the race, pretty surprising considering he did NO training at all. You bet he won best dressed spandex warrior.

A bunch of us went on a street mission this Sunday as well trying to clock some footy for the upcoming Empire video. Ray Malinga came with us and busted out a proper gap for a Blunt feature but you'll have to wait for the mag to see pics. This shot of Greg is mid line. He set up a little kicker, barspinned up the stairs and then slid the curved rail you see here. Toit!

Empire Cycle Supply are now distributing Alienation proucts in South Africa. To start off their line they have an assortment of rims coming which should be availbale right here at The Riot mid April. Green Ramp
The infamous Green Ramp in Parkhurst seems to have become quite popular once again. Although no longer green, the Green Ramp offers some great tranny for those who like taller ramps. It's around 6 and a half feet tall and although it's a little narrow and slippery (being made of steel) it's aramp you can definitelty have a lot of fun. Just ask Devin and Justin. They sent us these pics of what looks like a game of invert "r.i.d.e." they had the other day. You can decide who won.
