Malcolm Update
Malcolm sent us these pics taken by his friend David from the other day on the trick jump at his trails. Looks like Cape Town finally got a break from all the bad weather. We're stoked for all the riders.

Red Bull Empire of Dirt
It's pretty hard work doing an update at 10:52am when you're still drunk from the night before. The Red Bull Empire of Dirt after party was nothing short of a rockin good time. But without further a due here are the results and a few snaps of the from one of the best BMX events ever.

From 35 riders, 15 qualified for the finals on Saturday. The top 4 were then put head to head in the super finals where each rider had just one run to determine his place. Kye had qualified first on Friday but going into the Super Finals Gary Young took the lead. At the end of the day though Corey Bohan came through with an insane run and snatched the virgin title as the Red Empire of Dirt king.

1st - Corey Bohan
2nd - Gary Young
3rd - Dane Searle
4th - Kye Forte

This is Josh Stead and goes higher than anyone!

Leo Forte has so much style. He had a collision with Scott Edgeworth in practice that sent him to the hospital on Friday. He managed to arrive in time to have one run and qualify for the finals. Such s treat watching him ride.

Gary Young with a Dirt Bro's influenced table three.

Kye Forte tucking the second last set before the 55ft hip.

Tony Cardona puts on the chicken suit...

...then goes wild turkey.

Ali Whitton entering the dirt quarters

Gary Young alley ooping into them

And lastly for now, the winner Corey Bohan with a lofty one footed 360 table.

R.I.P. Blunt Magazine

The latest issue of blunt, featuring SA's FMX legend Nick de Wit on the cover and due on the shelves early next week, will be the last issue of blunt after an amazing 12 years in print after Touchline Media, the publishing house, shut down the magazine late last week.

Blunt did so much good for our lifestyle as well as others and its absence is definitely going to be felt.

England Update 7
Today was the first practice session for the Red Bull Empire of Dirt. Last night we were taken up to the course for a sneak peak and riders were buzzing this morning wanting to hit the lines.

The course is unliek anything before, It mixes trails, park and street all in to massive masive downhill joy ride.

Above is the view from the start deck. You have a tech line or the hips which lead you down to the dirt quarters.

These are the quarters. Once through these you need to get yourself around two curve wall rides, the second one being quite intimidating especially if it's your opposite way.

The two riders (Clint Reynolds and Brian Yeagle) should give you a good idea of the size of that wallride. Below is another angle and what awaits you after.

Below is the same section of course but with better views of how you get onto the spine deck.

You then have the choice of tech by hipping left into the berm you see and head toward this..

or you can air the quarter and exit into some more hips which lead you to the massive last hip which for now is unpictured. What is pictured however is some riding...

Leo Forte... Style for miles

Brian Hunt, tailwhip

An aussie named Josh Stead who is unsponsored and kills it.

Lima, one footed flattie

The last pic is of BJ who is also from Oz and was taken when we all headed to Kye's Barn to have an afternoon session. Tomorrow is more practice and then on Friday the contest gets into full swing.

England Update 6
The past two days have been so busy. On Sunday both Colin and Buddy got some belter photos in for the article. Then yesterday after missioning for what seemed forever to get to the newly redone Stockwell Park we arrived to find workers still laying concrete. We were not allowed in so then just made our way to Jon Robinsons trails. Which look like this:

Everything was running super smooth.

The face behind the spade... Captain Jon Robinson himself. Below is a pic of him on his biggest hip down the trails.

We are now about to head to the Red Bull Empire of Dirt comp in Devon which is set to be nuts. Go the website and see how badass the course is.

England Update 5
Yesterday our host, Warren Atkinson, had the day off work so he spent the day with us. He took us down to Chertsey again. There were rumours flying around that Brian Yeagle, Chris Doyle and Clint Reynolds were gonna come round. After being at the trails for and hour or so it started to rain and with the rain came the rumoured crew. Luckily the rain only lasted a few minutes and then the session kicked off.

There were plenty of trains going down. Here's one going through the "Regal" line.

This is the trick jump at the end of Regal. It saw plenty of action. For some belter shots head over to the Empire Site. Here is Clint Reynolds totally sideways.

Rob is one of the Chertsey locals and has spent hours behind a spade building jumps he likes to ride. He skipped work when he heard of the session and joined in. Turndown mid train.

Here's Clint again, this time training with Brian Yeagle.

Chris Doyle wanted to show us exactly how to do a picture perfect table. Look below for the zoomed in version. Perfect!

England Update 4
It was a long day but a good one. James Plumridge, remember him?

Well he came and fetched us and drove us 150km's to this über cool park called Adrenaline Alley. It's hands down the best park I've personally ever ridden. It has everything - bowl, vert, street, rhythm sections, resi box, foam pit, beginner... you get the picture.

There were quite a bunch of locals ripping the place up.

Never got the name of the first dude but the last two are of Joe Norledge. That wall ride is set way further back than you think. Today is more trails, well that's if the rain stays away.

England Update 3
I still can't believe it... I got to see Brian Yeagle ride!

He is one of my top riders of all time. Remember "Who Brought The Dicks?" We headed to Camden Park today and Chris Doyle and Clint Reynolds were there too. The three of them are out here on a trip for Props and making their way to the Red Bull Empire of Dirt. We had no idea they were gonna show up which made seeing them ride that much cooler.

This what the bowl looks like.

A bit closer up.

There is also a small street section there.

Clint Reynolds transfering across into the tombstone.

This was unfortunately the only photo I got of Doyle. He's doing the same transfer as Clint. They had their film crew and I didn't wanna interfere.

This is bow wow. I don't know his real name but he's a real rad dude and photographer. I like how much fun this photo looks, can almost hear the vvvvroop the tyres make through the corners.

That's all for now, more coming soon.

England Update 2
Today was off the hook. We headed down to Chertsey trails which are Warren Atkinson's local trails out here. With all the rain last week this was the first day the trails were riding and man were they riding good. Loads of locals came round to take advantage of the good weather and the session went off. The jumps are insane. Lines all over the place. Sizey and technical there are hardly any straight jumps which is awesome. The burms are just the best.

These are just two shots of the trails. For riding shots you are probably gonna have to wait for the article in Blunt unless we get some extras. Next week we'll be headed down to Newton Abbot for the Red Bull Empire of Dirt. Go check out the site, the course is nuts.

Tomorrow we headed for the Camden concrete park which we've heard some good things about so check back for pics of it.

The Killer England Update
It's been a real quiet two weeks since our last post. Thankfully things are picking up again. Like the fact we are now stocking the Killer range of shirts and hoodies. Below shows it all. This brand is blowing up fast and looking at the designs it's no wonder why. Shirts are going for R175 and hoods for R450.

Then in other news Tyrone and Colin flew over to England on the weekend and met up with buddy. They are gonna be there for two weeks shooting photos for a feature that's gonna be run in Blunt. At the end of the trip they'll be at the Red Bull Empire of Dirt where buddy is competing. Here is a snap shot of Colin prepping his new bike he built for the trip. You gotta be down with Brad's speed racer shades.

Here are some snaps Tyrone sent us from their first london session. No riding pics yet... you gonna have to wait for the Blunt for them but they'll be updating us on where they been so stay tuned.

SonSkate Fundraiser Comp
James from West Coast BMX was involved in the SonSkate Comp that went down on the weekend. Wayne and Malcolm were there representing as well as tons of other dudes. Looks like it was an awesome time. James has a write up with pics of it here.

These two photos were taken by Grant Bender but for more pics go to bmxcentral

Missing Link
This past weekend was the Boogaloos Missing Link BMX contest and a bunch of us decided to head out to Menlyn for Boogalooses first full BMX Contest. There was a pretty good turnout and a couple of guys made the trip from Durban.

The Am comp was well contested. Although Storm Guiranovitch just missed Top Three he was certainly clicking his tricks. Turndown over the box.

Justin Boniface was one the guys who helped organise the whole shindig. His brother was on the mic and was "lovin it lovin it lovin it". X-Up from the top placed Am.

Hendri Breedt has some of the most creative style out there. His barspins are so crazy. Pictures just don't them justice. Seeing some lines in the park that no one else even considered made it exciting to watch him ride.

Here's Hendri again with a 180 over the spine.

Kyle Kiewet aint afraid. He likes to go big and was doing barspins over the box-jump that had people holding their breathe in panic. It was awesome. Here he is with a tailwhip.

Leeroy was rocking out. He's quite a new face on the scene. In the short while he's been riding has been improving at rate nothing short of radical. With a keen eye on style both in fashion and riding this is one dude to keep an eye on.

Here's Leeroy paying homage to Clark Kent's alter ego.

At the end of the day only three riders could take home the prizes and they were:
1st - Justin Boniface
2nd - Kyle Kiewet (not present for prize giving)
3rd - Leeroy

Next up it was time for the pros which had some big guns blaring on proper sized trannies.

Stuey Loudon is one the smoothest tech riders around but he aint afraid to step it up when the urge bites. Here is a barspin tailtap to barspin on the 7ft quarter.

Lofty 360 X-Up.

The Riot's Tim Dell-icous arrived a little late and unfortunately his recently straightened hair had lost it's waterfall sheen. Feeling like himself he naturally had to throw in the dirt moves. Old school no hander.

Francois Bodenstein is one of those riders that learns tricks so fast that he makes things look way too easy. 180 barspin fakie over the spine.

Brad put some riding time in too. Here he is with a table over the box.

And here he is throwing the bars. He went through a dry patch with this trick but lately has been throwing them in all over the place. Nice.

This Jean. Most if us didn't have a clue who he was, never mind seen him ride. Surprises are dope and this dude was full of them. He rode super dialed and has barspins on lockdown. Best part is he aint afriad to go large with them. Barspin Fakie.

Devin Toselli recently got hooked up by Etnies. Not to be shy of making it known he was representing the brightest shoes ever seen. All he needs now is an Aaron Ross paint job on his frame. Invert with knee tuck perfection.

Chris Barnes was up from Durban as well. Chris was blasting all over the place and throwing some huge whips. Here is with a double downside tailwhip attempt. He landed one of these on the Gate Crash Tour and was coming so close here. Unfortunately this is the only pic we have of him.

Greg Illingworth owned the day. Greg's riding is getting rediculous. Fast, high, smooth and stylish with big tricks he does it all. No hander at height.

This pic of Greg was taken after the comp. He meant to do it in his runs but overlooked it. Not one to walk away from an idea he asked me to shoot a pic for him. he nailed it first time clean. Truckdriver on the flat bank.

And walking away with the cash we have:
1st - Greg Illingworth
2nd - Chris Barnes
3rd - Colin Loudon
