Wayne has been working like a slave to get
the trails in prestine condition for the jam this weekend... and
I keep getting random messages from people saying how good their
outfit is going to be! Here's what Wayne had to say when he sent
the pics "Been Prepping hard at the trails. Built all weekend
and was rewarded with Sunsets like this every night."
Don't take my word for it but I have a feeling that this berm leads
into a dirt quarter with hip landings on each side...

Jam at Gum Trails - Cape Town
Yes,
that's right... yet another amazing day of BMX is going down soon...
and all thanks to Wayne Reiche. Since the return from his crazy
African mission he has been working hard putting this jam together
at his trails...
This is going to be one wild ass day! There will be prize money,
and more products than you can wave a broomstick at! Everyone that
wants to ride on the day will pay small small fee of just R20. You
can ride whenever you want and for how ever long you want during
the allocated 4 hours. At the end of the day riders will vote on
the winners of all the prizes.
Some things to think about:
- Product Piñata’s!
- Trail booby traps!
- Pumpkin heads!
- Supermans in Superman outfits!
- Best trails in the country!
- Free Red Bull!
- Red Bull Girls!
- After party @ Carnival Court!
Rumour has it that you will have to deal with this guy and his
twin brother if you don't dress up...
This promises to not only be an amazing comp/jam but also an insane
party...

Web Video
Here is a web video Miles Rogoish put together
of Greg Illingworth, Justin Coble, and Miles himself. This is basically
what Greg got up to after Mega Tour.
DC shoes have added Brad Illingworth to their already rocking BMX
team. Look out for DC getting involved in BMX in South Africa in
a big way... and watch out for Brad shredding in some new kicks.
Rupert
Returns
SA BMX legend Rupert Von Tutschek
has been living in Scotland for the past few years. It seems he
has given in to temptation and is returning to good weather and
great people... this is what he had to say
"I'm coming back...
Land 27/10/09
This is bigger news than Tyone giving his soul to a girl.
Put that on your website.
Hugs Kiss Love
Rupert"
Greg
is back in town
Greg's back from the states.
Here's a few more pics from his trip and some words what he got
up to.
"I started out in Chicago where I met up with the rest of the
Mongoose team (Miles Rogoish, Justin Coble, James Ivett, Paul Ryan)
and the team manager (Chuck Fallen). I could immediately tell that
this trip was going to be good after meeting the other guys. Our
first order of business was to get to Chicago down town where we
shot the intros and group photos for Mega Tour. We also picked up
our Props filmer there.
While most of the other teams hung around
Chicago to ride some spots we headed straight to Milwaukee to ride
4 Seasons skatepark. We got there just in time for a late night
session. The park was really fun and pretty much had everything
you could ask for. The following day, we were shown some street
by a few Milwaukee locals. The spots were really good and I saw
James do one of the craziest drops I’ve ever seen… he
went of f the top of a truck into a sketchy tar bank! We then headed
to Madison where we spent the next two days riding the most amazing
street on the University campus, which seemed to never end. Every
corner we turned we found another spot to ride.
Our next stop was the twin cities (Minneapolis
and St Paul). We drove straight to the Banana Thunder HQ, which
is basically a big house where 6 BMXers and 1 skater live! These
guys immediately took us to awesome spots to film before it got
dark. The next day was the 7th and last of Mega Tour. This was the
day that all teams had to come together again to shoot some interviews
and ride together. By this time only a few guys were in any state
to ride. I was tired and sore from the week of non-stop riding and
chose to sit back and watch the madness go down.
Good byes were said and most of the guys
left to go home… except for Miles and myself. We stayed on
in St Paul at the Banana Thunder house with Eastern Bikes team rider
Eric Holley who was also on Mega Tour. Minneapolis is Eric’s
hometown… that combined with staying at a house with 6 riders
and a skater meant we were never short of people to ride with or
banger spots to ride.
MIles and I... the middle of nowhere.
We then headed to a little town called
Menomonee with a bunch of guys for a skatepark jam that was going
down there. The jam was super fun with no real structure or pressure
to ride… everyone was just there to have fun. We also managed
to get in a few good street sessions while we were there. We all
headed back to St Paul the day after the jam. Spent a few more days
riding and filming there and then flew with Miles to his hometown,
Tulsa.
Tulsa was so much fun, the scene reminded
me a lot home. I really got to see a different side of America here
and loved every second of it. Met a lot of really good people here,
they all were very hospitable and were always down to go ride. I
went to a back yard trail jam at Chadilac trails… the guy
that owned the house and built the jumps and mini ramp was called
Chad… The vibe here was super chilled, and good times were
had! !
Chadilac trails jam.
After a few more days in Tulsa riding
street we headed out to Las Vegas for Interbike and Nora Cup. The
20 hour drive was well worth it in the end… Vegas is overwhelming!
Interbike is a huge bicycle trade show and BMX holds a small section.
It was awesome to see all the bike companies displaying their new
products not to mention almost every BMX pro in America was there.
Nora Cup happened the second night we were in Vegas and lived up
to all expectations as being a wild party… It’s basically
BMX’s version of the Emmy’s except way more rowdy. A
bunch of partying went down in Vegas but not much riding happened.
A few wild days later and we were on the road back to Tulsa…
we had to make a 20 hour drive in 18 hours to get one of the guys
to the airport in time for a flight.
I spent the last four days in the states
riding the streets of Tulsa and getting a few more clips. All the
footage of Miles and myself is being used for a Mongoose web video
that will be online in a couple of weeks.
This entire trip was absolutely amazing
and I can’t wait to go back to the states. Thanks to everyone
that gave me a couch or floor to sleep on and showed me around America.
Ridaz!”
