Here
are some pics of a few recent street rides. The first lot of pics
are from this past Saturday when a bunch of us hit up some Edenvale
spots. The second lot are from Emmerentia Dam where we went to shoot
an Episode of our Vuzu
videos. Edenvale pics by Devin Toselli. Emmerentia Pics by Peter
Hudson. Thanks for the pics homies. We came across this rad road gap that
kept everyone entertained for ages.
There were tons of up and coming shredders around... Look out for
Alex Shapiro!
Alex again but this time with a turndown over the gap.
Steven - X-up
Tim
with some more steez and a radical X-up below.
After some bike issues Greg couldn't pedal up the hill so he decided
to scooter his ass down hill and bar spin the gap the other way.
Then we rolled up to this bad ass set of staris. If you've seen
South africa's best ever BMX DVD Unleash The Fury 2 you'll recognise
the rail from Brad Illingworth's section.
Leeroy rolled up to this twice and it was
on! Big 360.
Tim has been in full swing filming for The Riot videos.
Right
so now on to the Emmerentia Dam pics...
Jordan Gin dwn side whip while Greg

TK
Brawler (Tyrone Kelly) just learnt bar spins recently and is getting
them super dialed... this bank is not easy to ride by any means.

X Pics and Report
On the 20th of February 2010 Cape
Town’s V&A Waterfront witnessed the Ultimate X. The BMX
set up consisted of a 4 meter high roll in tower and two and 2 large
very trickable dirt dumps, simple bit SUPER effective! Everyone
who is anyone on the Cape Town BMX scene as well as Durban’s
Colin Loudon got involved and the local MTB (big wheelers) were
there to check it out too.. The format was chilled as it was not
a structured comp but rather a series of demo/jam sessions with
best rider and best trick comps but there was nothing chilled about
the riding.. The guys started ripping it up from the word go!!!!
Buddy was soon showing everyone what riding a bike is all about
with his massive airs and unique and world renowned style that makes
him the box legend he is.. Malcolm, Wayne and Colin got straight
into whips, flips and 3s and soon into the 1st demo Wayne wowed
the crowd with the 1st of his front flips. OSP local Malcolm peters
was on top form and always a crowd pleaser with his continuous steam
of whips, wip3s, truck drivers, double whips, huge dipped 3's and
even some near back flip whip attempts. Colin was also ripping with
every trick known to man but picked up a Earlier shoulder injury
which side lined him, but the rider of the day, as voted for by
the riders themselves had to be Wayne Reiche with a shopping list
of tricks including front flips, 720’s and back flips to name
a few.. The young talent also really impressed with riders like
Werner, Kim and Jason showing that they can ride with the big boys.
The general vibe of the event was awesome with all riders riding
at their limits and having as much fun as they could. Not even the
baking hot sun or the thought of the beer tent could stop the riding
with the last riders jamming well into sunset.. Im sure all involved
can’t wait for next years ULTIMATE X.
Another Sick OSP event, Thanks to Markus and his Crew..!
Once again we have the amazing Eric
Palmer to thanks for these awesome pics.
Wayne
Reiche walked away wih another dirt comp victory. Here he is with
a perfect frontflip.

16 February 2010 Etnies
- The Number (Aaron Ross/Odyssey Signature shoe)
It's not often that we get a pro BMX rider's
signature shoe here in SA. So when I got the mail that the Aaron
Ross' signature Etnies shoe was coming in I tripped out completely...
then I opened the attachment and saw how dope they are. I immideately
placed an order.
The Number is a colaboratin btween Aaron Ross,
Odyssey, and Etnies. Here is some info from Etnies abut the shoe.
"The Odyssey Number features
a BMX specific sole designed to grip pedals but also release when
needed without tearing the rubber. Denser EVA in the arch provides
extra protection from pedals, while softer EVA on the toe and heel
provide extra flexibility and comfort. System G2™ heel gel
prevents heel bruising. The Odyssey Number is 100% animal friendly
and as colourful as Ross himself."
This ad is currently running
on the latest issue of Locally
Whipped Magazine and it features Aaron Ross himself doing a
badass wheelchair hop barspin.
Unfortunately a limited amount of these will
be landing on our shores so we will be taking pre-orders as from
today. It will work on a first come first serve basis and are expected
to be here late March 2010.
They will be available in the following sizes:
UK7, UK8, UK9, and UK10
Price: R799
To place pre-orders please email
sales@theriot.co.za with the subject as Etnies.
The
Riot page on Vuzu.tv is up!
A little while ago I posted something
about The Riot having a video page on Vuzu.tv
... After ironing out a few finer details the page has finally gone
live! The popularity of these episodes on the Vuzu site might end
up BMX get an actual TV show on Vuzu. Check them out and don't be
afraid to comment on the videos. Here's a little pic of what the
page looks like, click on the image to got to the page.
Locally
Whipped Issue 27!
This is by far my favourite
issue of Locally Whipped
yet! Never mind the fact that the sexy as hell cover girls poses
with a 2010 purple Mongoose Article but also Riot team rider, Wayne
Reiche, has a 3 page feature inside and got a cover shot. That's
not even the end of BMX in the mag! The inside back cover has a
rad ad for DC Shoes, and the
back cover an ad of Aaron Ross shredding for his new signature shoe
"THe Number" (as mentioned above).
Just picked up my copy of the mag and snapped these shots.
Get to your local magazine outlet and pick
one of these up. Show some support for BMX and a BMX rider getting
the coverage they deserves.

15 February 2010 Mother
City Street Riot
James
Brawn from West Coast BMX
has been organising street rides in and around Cape Town in the
last few months. The popularity of these rides has has been unbelievable.
Around 40 riders showed up for this one as apposed to about 15 for
the first one in January.
To make the day a little more interesting for the riders The Riot
put up some vouchers. James handed the vouchers out to guys throughout
the day that showed creative riding, lines and tricks that stood
out from the ordinary.
A huge thanks must go out to James for putting this together and
injecting the Cape Town scene with a little street! Big ups to all
the RIDAZ! The Riot looks forward to supporting the next one. Enjoy
the pics.

03 February 2010 My
Culture Magazine Goes Online
My Culture
magazine has been one of the only magazines covering BMX in South
Africa in the last year or so and they have been doing a damn good
job. Unfortunately with the internet around it is difficult for
print media to survive in a small industry like BMX. This has led
My Culture to go the route of an online magazine... the site is
awesome and while they cover a number of aspects in youth culture
their BMX content is top notch. The first issue they have gone electronic
with is issue 4 and has an interview The Riot's very own Tim Dell.
Go to the website, sign up, and buy the mag... even better buy a
subscription. It will be worth every cent.
